Terrence Dyson

About the Instructor

My name is Terrence Dyson. I am proud to serve as a:

  • Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP®)
  • Certified Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT)
  • Certified Dementia Support Group Facilitator (CDSGF)
  • Illinois Notary Public
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor
  • Associate of Science in Business Management

I currently serve as the Memory Care Director at Alden Courts of Huntley, Illinois, where I have the privilege of leading a dedicated team committed to providing compassionate, person-centered dementia care.

My healthcare journey began in 2015 as a dishwasher in a retirement community kitchen. Over the years, I worked my way through nearly every level of senior care—including receptionist, caregiver, activity aide, activity director, and ultimately Memory Care Director.

Each position taught me something valuable about serving older adults and supporting the incredible professionals who care for them every day. Those experiences continue to shape my teaching style and my commitment to helping others succeed.

About D.Y.S.O.N.

Dementia Yearning Support & Orientation Network

This seminar is proudly presented through my independent dementia education and training program. D.Y.S.O.N. was founded in loving memory of my grandmother, who courageously lived with dementia before her passing.

My Mission is Simple:

To provide meaningful education, practical resources, and compassionate support that empowers others to care with confidence while preserving the dignity, purpose, and quality of life of every individual living with dementia.

Watching her journey inspired me to dedicate my career to educating caregivers, healthcare professionals, families, and communities about dementia. Through education, compassion, and understanding, I hope to honor her legacy while helping others navigate the dementia journey with greater confidence and hope.

Every class I teach is dedicated to helping others better understand dementia while learning practical skills they can immediately apply in their daily work. I truly believe that education has the power to transform care.
